Should You Choose Pole Tents Or A Modern Dome Design?

Pole tents have been the traditional covering of choice for camping trips for many a long year, but they are now very much being replaced by the dome tent design which is cheaper, lighter and more flexible. If you are already the owner of a much loved and used pole tent, you may well want to carry on using it. The chances are that it will evoke some happy memories of times gone by, when you will either have enjoyed a family vacation to remember, or just a trip in solitude which gave you the rest and relaxation you need.

Whether you should replace an old, wearing pole tent with another one of similar design is another question altogether. If you are someone who has been camping for many years, you may well be used to this type of design and be adept at erecting the tent. This will give you a great start over someone who is just beginning to see what camping has to offer. If you are happy with this solution, then go ahead and buy. Pole tents are still available, and they are still being manufactured today. Lighter materials are used in their construction, so they are easier to manage than before.

Foe someone just starting out in camping, there is a strong case for choosing one of the lighter dome tent models. If you are going to need to learn how to erect the tent, you may as well make the job as easy as possible. There is also the consideration of being able to carry and transport the tent. The use of synthetic materials which have been specially designed to be light while still being durable, and the creation of tent poles which are flexible, means that a modern dome tent is far easier to carry.

There are several other advantages to the modern dome tent. Along with the fact that it is lighter comes the fact that it is less bulky and takes up less room. If you are a hiking camper, you will be grateful for the fact that such a compact tent allows you to get some extra stuff packed in your backpack. Even if you care traveling in a vehicle, you will still notice the extra room you are able to find for other things.

Although camping may not be as popular now as it once was, there is still plenty of interest and manufacturers are competing hard to produce the best product they can. There is a large range of both traditional and modern tents to choose from, so the ideal place to search is on the Internet.
